Aubrey de Grey is a biogerontologist devoted to the goal of defeating aging. He is a key spokesman  for those who support life extension or rather “health extension” as a beneficial goal for the world at large. I had the pleasure of meeting him recently at the Global Futures 2013 Congress. As a keen follower of his work, I can highly recommend his science-based,  real research approach to anti-aging. The prospects of truly stopping and reversing aging lie in treating the effects of aging at a cellular level.

Essentially, Aubrey says that, while actually preventing aging may be possible in the future, the processes of aging are so complex, that this project will take many, many years. However, another approach that he promotes via his SENS organization is to develop therapies now to repair the damage that the processes of aging have produced in our bodies. This approach has the benefit of being do-able in our lifetime – and perhaps even within the lifetime of people currently as old at 70.

The SENS Research Foundation website http://www.sens.org/   is very worthwhile exploring. For an excellent introduction to the aging and the prospects to end it, check out the “Research” tab on the site.

There is much work to do and this video from “VideoJug” offers a great intro to Aubrey de Grey’s work and the aims of SENS Foundation.

Here is the list of questions that Aubrey de Grey addresses in this video. Each answer is a little over 1 minute long so you can skip to any question that is most of interest.

For those who wish to delve deeper into the processes of aging and how the damage of aging can be cleaned up, see Aubrey’s book, “Ending Aging: The Rejuvenation Breakthroughs That Could Reverse Human Aging in Our Lifetime

Live long, live well, and prosper!
